what is family medicine?
Family medicine providers* are able to provide care to all members of the family of any age and background for a variety of reasons, from acute to chronic illnesses. Here are just some of the areas that our family medicine providers are passionate about at Iris Mental Health & Wellness:
*Note: All family medicine sessions provided via telehealth
Parent/infant support
Having a new baby is a big adjustment! Ask questions about lactation/feeding issues, development, bonding, fussiness and sleep.
Even if you just want to know, “IS THIS NORMAL??,” this is your space to talk with a provider about that!
Women’s Health/Gyn
Not feeling like yourself?
If you are tired of being told, “this is normal”… come talk with us!
Family Medicine can help with many women’s health challenges! If your periods have changed, you are feeling depressed or anxious during or after pregnancy (or after a loss), or question your hormones (MENOPAUSE???) we can help!
We can also help with family planning/contraception, lactation support and conditions like PCOS.
Family Medicine
General services offered, such as virtual physical examinations, office visits for acute illnesses (sinus infections, digestive issues, ear infections, etc.) and medication evaluation & management for conditions like anxiety and depression.
Family medicine can also support making health changes related to lifestyle, such as smoking cessation & nutrition.
Chronic Health Conditions
Feeling out of balance?
Whether you have had a diagnosis, or suspect one, Family Medicine providers can assess and treat those with conditions like thyroid disorders, metabolic disorders, polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) and diabetes.
