Personal

Why did you go into this field of study? My journey with acupuncture started many years ago when I was diagnosed with PCOS. I wanted to find a treatment that didn’t involve taking the standard Western approach of birth control pills and metformin that was prescribed to me. After much research, I landed in the student clinic at American Academy of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (AAAOM) and tried acupuncture for the first time. The results didn’t happen right away, but I felt more at peace that I was on the right path when I left the clinic that day. A few years later and after the birth of my second child, I started taking classes at AAAOM and then transferred to Northwestern Health Sciences University to finish my master’s degree. Through this experience I had found my true calling. I knew I wanted to help others and utilize the same natural holistic healing that I found in acupuncture and Chinese medicine for my health conditions.

What are your interests outside of work? In my spare time, I love spending time with my children, Sam and Tiffany. I also enjoy making art, photography, hiking in the woods, dancing, running, biking, yoga, camping, gardening, reading, and cooking.

What book are you loving right now? I pour over and quote anything written by Brene Brown. My latest favorite by her is Atlas of the Heart. She gives such a wonderful description of different emotions. The book has genuinely helped understand my feelings. I can't recommend it enough.

What is one of your favorite quotes? "I have been absolutely terrified every moment of my life and I've never let it keep me from doing a single thing I wanted to do." —Georgia O'Keefe
