Dr. Alisha Sabouneh (she/her/hers) focuses on treating the whole patient: mind, body, and spirit. Personal

Why did you go into this field of study? For many years I not only struggled with symptoms my Western medicine doctors could not explain, but I also watched many others go through a similar experience. I was fortunate enough to find an alternative way to treat the body that helped me and so many others, acupuncture. During my course of treatment, I felt a strong pull toward going back to school to become an acupuncturist. During my education, I fell even more in love with Traditional Chinese Medicine and all the wonderful things it has to offer. I am so grateful to share this medicine with so many others to help them in their healing journeys.

What are your interests outside of work? I absolutely love spending time with my family. My children are very active in their respective sports, and we do quite a bit of traveling for their competitions and tournaments. It is so fun to experience new places while watching them do what they love. I also enjoy the outdoors, making crafts, reading, learning new things, and attending plays, concerts, and shows.

What is your favorite podcast of the moment? One of my favorite podcasts is The School of Greatness. There are so many wonderful episodes on mindset and personal growth that are both encouraging and inspiring.

What is one thing you do daily that supports your mental and emotional well-being? Every day, I check in with my thoughts and emotions to make sure the things I am thinking and the way I am feeling is coming from me and not from outside influences. It is amazing how much we can be impacted by people and events around us, so it’s important for us to check-in with ourselves and stay true to who we are.
